So I was watching An Interview with Nina Dobrev
I never seen The Vampire Diaries but been meaning to. I hear it’s really good. well I was having this conversation with a friend about how throughout the years vampire series have had their own “canon” and though the basics stay the same, certain things are different. Like what kills the vampire, and how they’re turned.
Like for example Anne Rice’s vampires can’t be staked. Only burned by the fire or sunlight.
Twilight vampires can’t be staked, burned by sunlight, or any of the normal ways to die. In fact they’re pretty much “true immortals” in the sense that humans can’t kill them in ANY way. The ONLY way they can die is if another supernatural being rips their body parts apart and burns the pieces.
And as far as turning goes
Anne rice seems to be the traditional drain them of their blood and feed them yours, and they wake up a vampire.
In twilight the vampires have venom in their bodies much like a snake and essentially poison a person to death. Then they wake up a vampire.
Well I cracked up laughing at this interview with Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries I saw. It was on George Lopez. George says to Nina explain the process of becoming a vampire. It’s confusing. It’s not like in the old days where they bit you and you wake up white. (Love his description of the traditional vampire story turning). And Nina says well on our show you have to have vampire blood in you, then you have to be killed, then you have to wake up ‘dead’, then you have to kill someone then you have to drink human blood. If you don’t drink human blood you die. If you drink human blood you become a vampire.
Well it just seemed like a lot of work to make a vampire to me. The TVD way. It made me think of Eric saying Pam is very loyal but awfully lazy in True Blood. I was thinking if Pam had to make a vampire the TVD way she wouldn’t have much patience. I could picture her making a human drink her blood, shooting them then waiting for them to wake up and decide whether or not they wanted to drink the human blood to become a vampire. I mean I really do want to watch the show but it just seemed a rather strange way to create a vampire. Actually it seems rather backwards from the “traditional” way you see in vampire stories. Instead of killing them and then giving them your blood and waiting for them to rise. You’re giving them your blood then killing them. Then waiting for them to rise. Then waiting for them to drink their first human. I kind of don’t get it. But I am sure I’ll love the show. Anyone know where I can get seasons 1-2 for cheap?
I have ONE more rant…Yes I know I rant a lot but…
It’s my tumblr so get the fuck over it. I am a huge fan of Lisa Marie Presley. As in her music career. It’s been seven years or so since she put anything new out. I am excited for it. I am geared up and I like hearing some of the new stuff on youtube. I was listening to You ain’t seen nothing yet and the haters come out galore. Which is fine not everyone will like her as a musician. So fine say she can’t sing blah blah blah. The rant I have is all the MJ and LMP comments. For fuck’s sake that was how many years ago? These MJ fans are arguing over whether or not Lisa was the love of his life blah blah blah. MJ fans come to her youtube videos just to bash her. Because she apparently at one point said some mean stuff about him in interviews. Well I noticed an MJ fan post a great comment that said I used to hate her because I heard her say some horrible things about MJ in the past, but now I am a huge fan of her music, and I am still a huge fan of his and what is in the past is in the past. One of the most logical sane comments I’ve seen written. Then someone posted you’re not a true MJ fan if you support her music or her in general because she’s an ugly person inside and out. Well First off she’s a human being. who hasn’t said nasty things about their exes at some point. Is she going around talking about it now unless asked? No. It’s all fine and good if you want to bicker over a person’s personal life you never met and probably never will, but take it to some celebrity bashing gossip fan forum or something and leave all that nonsense off her youtube videos. I want to see comments on her music whether it’s constructive criticism, negative or positive, but for God’s sake keep it about the damn music being ya know it’s a video of one of her songs, and not some interview about her personal life. I am sorry when I go to listen to her music and read the comments I expect ya know more commenting on the music and less bickering over something that happened over 15 years ago! In fact i’d love to see more comments on a person’s career when I go to listen to a song on youtube, read an article about a movie they’ve done etc, and less commentary on their personal issues in general. But I guess that will never happen since everyone wants to play TMZ. I just feel some people need to get a life. Okay end rant. Going back to listening to Ain’t seen Nothing Yet by Lisa. And not read the comments.
Another one of my infamous rants…
About what I’ve been seeing on the internet concerning my favorite series. This is another one semi related to True Blood. HBO released a teaser trailer with Chris Meloni, Lucy Griffins (Nora) and Christopher Heyerdahl. Those who are Twilight fans might recognize Christopher as Marcus of the Volturi. And of course Chris Meloni everyone knows from Law and Order. Well obviously there were a few Marcus jokes as well as law and order jokes. I expected some Volturi and detective teasings going on this season for that reason. However my rant happens to do with some of the absurd comments posted on the youtube video. When brought up that “Marcus” was in season 5 someone apparently posted that Twilight supported Pedophiles and promoted such. Here’s my problem I have with that disturbing statement.
Bella was 17 when she met Edward Cullen. He is physically 17 and appears her age. Though he’s 109 in vampire years. Bella was innocently dating him with no sex and any sort of disturbing notion of their relationship. Bella was ALMOST 18 and nothing fully happened until she turned 18 and got married. Here’s the deal Bella was a grown teenager who was on the verge of turning 18 which is by law an adult. Edward is frozen in time. He technically never ages. He is forever 17. So when Bella turned 18 technically speaking she became a year older than him as far as “aging” actually goes. In terms of a vampire romance in a fictional novel, it’s hard to base anything off age. Being there’s a being who physically will never grow older, and but will live MANY years and therefore their age is based on the years they’ve lived as a vampire and not any sort of change or growth. With that said, the book did not portray a vampire falling in love with a young child, but a teenager who was almost legal. So therefore it REALLY disturbs me that people would say this. When the vampire himself is forever 17. Now onto a comment that someone made about True blood. They mentioned the vampires fall in love with humans younger than themselves. This is true Sookie is approximately 1,074 years younger than Eric. However she’s still a legal adult so not a good example. So as far as True blood goes, let’s use Jessica Hamby who was turned at 17. Physically she’s 17. Sam tells her she can’t be a waitress she needs to be 18. Jessica tells him that’s not fair I’ll never be 18. So since she’s stuck at 17 forever as well does that mean Hoyt broke the law? Now I am not saying physical vs. vampire age should be taken into consideration for all relations and what is appropriate, but I am mentioning this in relations to the comment specifically about twilight. To which a girl started dating a vampire whose 17 (in physical age) during her junior year of high school. The second book she turned 18 and that is the book they actually became a serious couple. So it is really really really disturbing that comment. And by the way everyone who feels this way about the books or movies of twilight I just have to say it’s fucking fiction. And yes I just analyzed an unrealistic and fictional situation in two series to show you why that comment bugged the hell out of me. I am sure Meyer would appreciate such an accusation against her because if you think the book promotes such a thing then you think she does as the author. And I highly doubt she does. Okay I am done for the day. Carry on.
I had the strangest dream last night
I fell asleep after this guy left my house. He’s rather strange himself. But that is something else to get into later. ….
Well I went to bed. The dream started out at applebee’s. The guy was at the bar because he’s been coming there lately. Somehow I ended up calling him a borderline stalker and then we got into a fight. Then he disappears and I end up on a ship with Ursula from the little mermaid and of course my family was there. Except Ursula ended up putting some sort of spell on the ship that would sink it. Except when it was about to sink my family was gone. just poof disappeared. So when the boat actually went down I was the only one sinking with it. Then out of nowhere the guy appears and so it was like freaking “Jack and rose” from the titantic hanging onto whatever they could find. Then I woke up and never found out what happened to us. A big WTF dream indeed.
30 ACTORS I ADMIRE - Alexander Skarsgård
As an actor, I believe the character has to be born with you, and come from within you. It has to be that organic. As human beings, we have all those characteristics within us. I don’t believe in good people and bad people. I think we are a combination of both.
That quote is amazing! There are reasons why I love Alexander Skarsgard other than his great looks. Though he’s quite handsome I am starting to put those looks a little farther down on the list the more I read some quotes by him. Yes I know *gasps* hard to believe :p.
One of my infamous rants this time about people…
Who SHOULD be forbidden to do movie reviews. Warning if you have NOT read the novels the Hunger Games nor seen the film adaptation recently you probably shouldn’t read this. HOWEVER anyone who is going to go see a movie that they know is based off a book series SHOULD most definitely either read the books before the movie or at least AFTER to get the FULL story. Because most of the time the movie is merely LOOSELY based on the novel. For those of you quite disturbed by the Hunger Games plot and think kids shouldn’t watch it or that your children shouldn’t be aware of the existence of it because it’s about “children killing each other for sport in a reality television series” Well you people are IDIOTS. That is not what the book series is about. That is a part of it but that is not THE POINT. The children aren’t killing each other for sport because they are amused. They don’t find this acceptable. Nor do their parents. Nor does anyone. The book series as well as the movie if you actually paid attention, is society, and government and the things that we consider entertainment. It’s about people who have SO much while others have SO little and people not caring. It’s about children taking a stand against everything they find JUST as disturbing as you do. For those of you who can’t read and assume this is just some violent sick movie saying it’s okay for children to kill each other for sport until one victor is left standing, well the books and movie is saying it is NOT okay.

A bit of a little rant here on the TB fans freaking out over”Nora/Eric”
Okay for those that have seen the True Blood season 5 teaser promo where Eric appears to be making out with his vampire sister. Key word VAMPIRE SISTER. It’s not true incest idiots if they were to become lovers. He’s not RELATED to her in well a human sense. She is another vampire that Godric turned. So when she was human she was nowhere related to Eric. And as we all know “vampire families” aren’t quite the same as human ones. Maker and progenies become lovers quite often. In fact in the past if you’ve read the books Pam and Eric were lovers once before they had a “father/daughter” relationship, and that is most certainly implied in the show as well. Also clearly Lorena and Bill were certainly more than “friends” in both the books and show. You people all up in arms over him kissing his “sister” haven’t read many vampire stories or seen too many vampire shows. This is nothing new, vampires keeping it in the “family”. And the people comparing it to Bill and Portia? Gag me not the same at all. Portia is actually a true relative of his. Not a vampire turned by his maker. She was his great great great great granddaughter. She IS related to him in a human way. Totally not the same. Oh and I know a lot of twilight fans who are big fans of True Blood. I know you might argue about the seriousness of “twilight vampires” since they sparkle and aren’t the typical traditional vampire, but they still are vampires. So to prove my point and argument as to why Nora and Eric shouldn’t be a big deal, I’ll use the Twilight couplings everyone loves. Jasper/Alice and Rosalie/Emmett? Totally vampire siblings. Carlisle made them all into vampires in Meyer’s book series. Same for the movies. Yet I find it funny that those who are fans of both never seem to mind them. Is it because they are not your typical vampires? so we sort of over look it? Oh I see how it is. If Eric Northman Sparkled (Let’s hope he never does) it wouldn’t be an issue huh?And for all you big Eric and Sookie fans freaking out because he’s kissing someone other than Sookie. Well not to sound mean but grow up and get over it. Sookie broke up with him, and since the show is loosely based on the books you won’t get Sookie and Eric for awhile since we’re only on season 5. In fact books 5-8 don’t have Sookie and Eric together at all. They are merely just “friends” in those books. So I say Eric have fun! Enjoy your time. Nora is attractive! In fact kiss as many girls as you want while Sookie deals with far bigger problems besides her mess of a love life. In fact Eric and Bill probably have far bigger problems than who they’re making out with as well. So at least let Eric have some fun. Since you know the woman he loved dumped him last season. The Authority wants him dead, and ya know he helped kill Nan and her guards.
